Rules by Class
All classes
Nothing allowed on the door side windows or windshields that would impair drivers vision.
Category, dial and competitor number are allowed.
One functional taillight must be visible to the starter until the driver turns on to the return road
and must be on when track personnel designate. Driver will be given one warning if not on when
designated. Racer will be disqualified from further competition for second violation. This rule
also applies to BYE runs.
No multiple drivers in one car/bike entered in the same class. A vehicle may NOT be entered in a
class with two drivers.
Warm up rules:
It is mandatory that a driver be seated in the car in the normal driving position anytime the
engine is running. The practice of trans-brake testing, converter stalls, line-loc testing, and/or
transmission warming is prohibited in all classes, in all areas of the event except in starting-line
approach areas beyond staging, exceptions are if vehicle is on jackstands, coupler or drive-line
is removed from vehicle.. Non-compliance is grounds for disqualification or such other and/or
action as deemed appropriate by West End Thunder.
Street / Daily Driver Classes
Stock style suspension, bolt on allowed. Mini tubs allowed, so long as stock frame rails are in
stock location.
Sportsman Tree
Trans-brake NOT allowed. (You are allowed to have it installed, but it cannot be used during the
actual race.)
Fiberglass hoods allowed, add-on body kits allowed, other fiberglass body panels allowed where
factory.
DOT approved tires only, maximum width of 2” past the furthest point out on the fender.
No electronics, single step high only rev limiter permitted. This means factory OEM equipped
low side rev limiters must be disabled.
Factory dash panel, aftermarket gauges allowed.
Full interior from back of front seats forward.
Multiple power adders allowed.
No open headers. Must have street legal muffling device. (Catalytic converters, glass pack, etc.)
Working factory glass
Secured battery, if relocated follow West End Thunder Tech rules
Fuel system must meet West End Thunder safety specs.
Multiple class entry allowed.
Must have current legal tag and insurance
2 wheel line lock allowed.
All racers must wear a helmet on our Dragstrip!
Delay boxes or other electronic devices not legal in these classes can not be in these cars during
competition. If these devices are found to be in vehicle during competition, that would include
the staging lanes before first round of elimination, you will be disqualified from event and asked
to leave the premises.
Hub caps and trim rings must be removed.
NO MOTORCYCLES IN THIS CLASS
SPORTSMAN
.500 Full Tree, Sportsman ladder
Foot Brake Only, Trans Brake Prohibited
Single Stage High side rev limiter only. LOW rev limiter is prohibited.
All racers must wear a helmet.
Seat belt mandatory in all cars, SFI 16.1 highly recommended. No matter what is used it must
be installed correctly.
Driveshaft loop required on all cars utilizing slicks.
Passenger DOT TIRES: DO NOT drive through water box
Hub caps & trim rings must be removed.
All cars must have functional neutral safety switch
Automatic Trans must be equipped with a spring-loaded positive reverse lockout
No tool boxes in trunk, all items in trunk must be securely fastened or removed.
1 pint minimum catch-can mandatory for coolant overflow.
Trucks must run with tailgates up or removed.
Two throttle return springs
Delay boxes or other electronic devices not legal in these classes can not be in these cars
during competition. If these devices are found to be in vehicle during competition, that would
include the staging lanes before first round of elimination, you will be disqualified from event and
asked to leave the premises.
PRO
.500 Full Tree, Sportsman ladder
All drivers must wear a helmet meeting SNELL or SFI specifications –
Driveshaft loop required on all cars utilizing slicks.
Seal belt required. Three inch belt meeting SFI Spec 16.1 highly recommended OR SFI 16.5 for
a two inch belt. A two inch or three inch Seat Belt meeting SFI 16.1 or 16.5 is mandatory in any
convertibles. No matter what is used it must be installed correctly.
Automatic Trans. must be equipped with a spring-loaded positive reverse lockout
All cars must have functional neutral safety switch NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED
Dual line-loc; Wire must consist of a single continuous wire from the switch to the line-loc(s)
solenoid(s)
Shifter; mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical operated shifter permitted.
Rev limiter; two (2) step maximum permitted
Prohibited; throttle timers, drive wheel line-locks and any after market electronics
Delay boxes or other electronic devices not legal in these classes can not be in these cars during
competition. If these devices are found to be in vehicle during competition, that would include
the staging lanes before first round of elimination, you will be disqualified from event and asked
to leave the premises.
No towing of vehicles.
SUPER PRO
.500 Full Tree, Sportsman ladder
Roll bar mandatory in all cars.
Full bodied car, unaltered from firewall rearward (wheel tubs permitted).
Seal belt required. Three inch belt meeting SFI Spec 16.1 highly recommended OR SFI 16.5 for
a two inch belt(date labeled). A two inch or three inch Seat Belt meeting SFI 16.1 or 16.5 is
mandatory. No matter what is used it must be installed correctly.
Automatic Trans. must be equipped with a spring-loaded positive reverse lockout devise &
functional neutral safety switch mandatory.
Protective Clothing: NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED
SFI spec 3.2A/15, gloves & shoes or boots SFI spec 3.3/5 mandatory.
Drivers in open-bodied cars must wear gloves.
All drivers must wear a helmet meeting SNELL or SFI specifications – check Gen. Reg. 10:7
Helmets.
Seat Belts must be pulled tight.
MOTORCYCLE
Full-face helmet with shield meeting M2015, SA2015 , 2020 mandatory. No goggles
permitted.
Full all leathers mandatory on Motorcycles.
Leather boots/shoes above the ankle and leather gloves mandatory on all motorcycles. Gloves
must be Kevlar-lined or equipped with slide buttons.
Motorcycles must break beams under own power.
Chain guard is required on all motorcycles.

Bikes may run with cars in S/Pro, Pro, Sportsman
Pants/jacket combo suits must use 360 degree metal zipper for attaching purposes.
TRACK RULES
All vehicles that run down the drag strip are required to undergo a technical inspection
by the track’s Tech Inspectors. NHRA publishes an annual Rule Book that covers every classification and is used by West End Thunder’s Tech Inspectors.

These rules are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish standards for such events. By entering and participating in an event, participants are deemed to understand and accept these rules. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF
SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF THESE RULES OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES. They are intended as a guide for conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.
These rules may be changed or amended by the management of West End Thunder.
THE TRACK MANAGER’S DECISION IS FINAL IN ALL CASES
The TRACK MANAGER shall be empowered to permit minor deviations from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his or her opinion does not alter minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY
SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATION. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final and may not be protested in any manner.
1.0 Rules of Conduct
1.1 Vehicles participating in racing events must always appear presentable. Any vehicles bearing advertising or messages deemed
inappropriate by West End Thunder will be denied participation.
1.2 Any participant (including drivers, riders, crew members, etc.) considered to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other judgment impairing substance will be disqualified from the event and will be asked to leave the facility.
1.3 Speed limit in the pit area, staging lanes, and return road is 10 M.P.H. Burnouts are allowed in the burnout area (behind the starting
line) only.
1.4 Participants at events are expected, always, to conduct themselves in a professional and non-disruptive manner. Any participants who, in the sole and absolute judgment of the track personnel, 1) verbally or physically threatens another participant, 2) uses vulgar
or derogatory language, 3) engages in unsportsmanlike conduct or conduct detrimental to the sport of racing, or 4) otherwise creates a condition or circumstance that is unsafe, unfair, or out of order shall have violated the rules and regulations of West End Thunder may be disqualified from the event or banned from the facility.
1.5 THERE SHALL BE NO UNMUFFLED ENGINE NOISE PRIOR TO 8AM.
2.0 Technical Inspection
2.1 West End Thunder will use the current NHRA Rule Book as a guide for inspecting vehicles.
West End Thunder reserves the right to impose additional requirements more stringent than those specified in the NHRA rule book.
2.2 West End Thunder may permit minor deviations or exceptions from those prescribed in the NHRA rule book.
NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH DEVIATION OR EXCEPTION.
3.0 General Rules
3.1 All race vehicles are presumed “race ready” (per NHRA rulebook) upon entering the facility. Once a driver has passed a tech
inspection, there will be no refunds or exchanges.
3.2 Racers can have a maximum of three crew members assist them in the restricted area.
3.3 Each race vehicle should display a competition number and a class designation on the windshield, both side windows, and the right
rear window. The numbers should be five inches tall on the sides and 3 inches tall on the front and rear.
3.4 Your dial-in will be displayed on the starting line dial in boards. DO NOT PRE-STAGE YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED YOUR DIAL-IN. By pre-staging your vehicle, you have accepted that your dial-in is correct.
Your dial-in cannot be changed once you leave the head of the staging lanes. Motorcycles must report numbers and dial-ins to the tower before eliminations or have them displayed clearly on the motorcycle. You cannot dial out of your bracket. Junior Dragsters must have the dial-ins permanently displayed on their dragsters. No dial-ins on tires for any class.
3.5 Wristbands must be worn for the duration of the event. Racers and crew members must have their wristbands visible to race officials.
3.6 Jack stands must be used for warm-ups done in the pits.
3.7 Competition numbers are complimentary for racers on a first come first served basis.
3.8 Staging/Time Trials/Eliminations: Do not pull into the staging lanes until your class is called. Please monitor the PA or the radio station (102.5 FM) for staging lane assignments and calls. When you report to the staging lanes pull all the way to the front and be ready to race.
When you are at the front of the lanes, be ready to make your run.
3.9 Courtesy staging is in effect at this track. Both pre stage lights must be on, prior to either vehicle staging.
3.10 No one under the age of 16 is allowed to operate a motorized or wheeled vehicle in the pits at any time.
3.11 Potential singles for 1st round will be chosen by the best reaction time in the qualifying.
3.12 All classes will be laddered based on best reaction time in qualifying.
3.13 Lane choice will be determined by a coin flip.
3.14 There will be a buy back policy for first round losers during our cash bash events only. Buy back racers DO NOT QUALIFY for a single run after buying back in.
4.0 Rainout Policy
4.1 If rain or other occurrences halt racing at any time prior to any time/qualifying runs for your class, racers will receive full credit of entry fees or a rain check issued for a make up race.If rain or other occurrences halt racing after time runs, but prior to the completion of 1st round for your class, there will be no refund but instead a rain check for a make-up race weekend.
4.2 If an event is rained out racers/spectators have until the end of the current season to use the credit.
4.3 If an event is rained out prior to the start of time trials, the tech card will be kept by the track at the entrance booth and that is what
will be used for credit at a future event.
5.0 General Information
5.1 LED bulbs will be used on the starting line tree.
5.2 Cross talk is in effect in Super Pro. If you do not wish to use the cross-talk system, you must put an N after your dial-in.
5.3 No excessive noise (race cars, generators, etc.) after 10 pm or before 8 am each day.
5.4 Pets must be on a leash. Clean up after your pet.
5.5 No open fire on the property.
5.6 Clean your pit spot before leaving. Put all trash in the trash cans.
7.11 You must remove your own used oil. We are not allowed to have oil dump barrels. Do not use the ground.
7.12 The use of drones is prohibited.
